When you think of healthcare heroes, roles like doctors and nurses often come to mind. But did you know that medical laboratory professionals are involved in about 70% of all clinical decisions? From diagnosing diseases to monitoring treatment progress, the work of lab professionals is central to patient care.

Fellow professionals,

This profession put food on the table for our children and loved ones. It is our identity, and source of livelihood.

We are holding an election on 17th April 2025 at the Makerere University. This election is a game changer because great minds with capability of changing the professional discourse are in the race.

It's important that you qualify to vote for the change you most desire. To do this, please pay 50k registration fees through the details that the UMLTA secretariat is sharing. For registered members, please subscribe by paying 30k to become an active member.

See you then.

Here are just a few of their critical contributions:

  • Diagnostic Testing: Lab professionals perform tests that identify everything from diabetes and infections to cancers and genetic conditions.

  • Rapid Response in Emergencies: Without quick and accurate lab results, emergency treatments like blood transfusions and surgeries wouldn’t be possible.

  • Contribution to Public Health: Lab professionals play a key role in disease surveillance, supporting research, and identifying outbreaks like COVID-19.

Despite being behind the scenes, their work is no less impactful than frontline healthcare workers. Lab professionals are the backbone of modern healthcare.
